What Is an AI Business Operating System?
One platform replaces your CRM, email tool, campaign manager, and booking software. AI digital employees do the work. Here is how it actually works.
An AI business operating system is software that combines CRM, email, campaigns, booking, forms, and automation into one platform — and adds AI digital employees that do the work autonomously.
Why it exists
The old model looks like this. You buy a CRM (Salesforce, $800/month). You buy an email tool (Mailchimp, $350/month). You buy a booking tool (Calendly, $12/seat/month). You buy a form builder, a campaign manager, and an automation connector like Zapier. Six subscriptions. Six logins. Six data silos. Then you hire people to operate all of it.
The new model: one platform. One dataset. AI employees that handle execution across every module. Your sales rep does not manually update deal stages. The AI reads the email, moves the deal, and drafts the follow-up. Your marketing person does not build campaign lists by hand. The AI segments contacts based on behavior and sends the right message.
The shift is not "add AI to existing tools." It is "build the tools around AI from day one." That is the difference between bolting a chatbot onto Salesforce and building an operating system where every module assumes AI is doing the work.
What is inside
Seven modules. Each one works alone. Together, they share data and context so AI employees can act across the entire business.
CRM
Contacts, companies, deals, and pipelines. Standard stuff. The difference: AI employees can read and write to every field. A deal moves from "Qualified" to "Proposal Sent" because the AI sent the proposal, not because someone dragged a card.
Transactional and marketing email. Built in. No Mailchimp integration to break. AI employees draft, personalize, and send emails using your templates and your voice. Open and click tracking included.
Campaigns
Multi-step outreach sequences. Email, delays, conditions, branches. AI employees can generate campaign content, A/B test subject lines, and adjust send times based on engagement data.
Booking
Online scheduling with calendar sync. This is where Sarama started. A Calendly subscription ran out, so we built a booking page. It costs CHF 3/seat/month instead of $12.
Forms
Lead capture forms, surveys, and embedded widgets. Submissions flow directly into the CRM. AI employees can qualify leads the moment they submit a form — no human delay.
Flows
Visual automation builder. When X happens, do Y. Triggers, conditions, actions, delays. Think Zapier, but native. No third-party connector. No per-task pricing. Flows can invoke AI employees as steps.
AI Agents
Digital employees that make decisions. Not chatbots. Not rule-based automations. Agents that read context, choose actions, and execute across every module in the platform. More on this in our guide to AI digital employees.
The marketplace difference
Cheaper tools are nice. But the real shift is the marketplace. Sarama includes a marketplace where anyone can build, publish, and sell AI agents, teams, and automation flows.
Think App Store, but for business AI. A real estate agency builds an agent that qualifies property leads. They publish it. A hundred other agencies install it. The creator gets 80% of every sale. Sarama takes 20%.
This is how you get compounding value. Every business that builds on the platform makes the platform more valuable for every other business. The marketplace has ratings, reviews, and usage metrics. You do not hire an agent on faith. You hire one with a track record.
How Sarama built one
It started with a booking page. My Calendly subscription expired. I built a replacement in a weekend. Then I built Coeus, a property management platform for Swiss real estate. I needed a CRM to sell Coeus. So I built that too.
The CRM needed email. Then campaigns. Then forms. Then automation flows. Then I added AI agents because I was the only person in the company and I needed help. Each feature was born from a real problem, not a product roadmap meeting.
That is the origin of Sarama. One founder in Basel who kept needing one more feature until the tool became an operating system. The marketplace came last — the realization that if I needed these AI employees, so did everyone else, and the best ones should be shared.
Who needs this
Sales teams
Your reps spend 70% of their time on admin. AI employees handle lead qualification, follow-up emails, meeting scheduling, and pipeline updates. Reps focus on conversations that close.
Agencies
Manage multiple clients from one platform. Build AI agents for one client, sell them to the rest through the marketplace. Turn your operations knowledge into recurring revenue.
Consultants and freelancers
You are the sales team, the marketing team, and the operations team. At CHF 25/month for one seat, you get a full business stack with AI employees that handle the work you do not have time for.
Small businesses
You cannot afford Salesforce. You should not need to. CHF 25/seat/month gives you every tool Salesforce charges $800/month for, plus AI employees they do not have.
